Bug Or Defect Life Cycle Steps and Scenarios

Issue/ Bug Life Cycle is the time in between when the ticket status was assigned till it converted into close mean all work which has been started and ended within this time i.e. status: New or Open, Rejected, ‘Closed’, deferred or postponed is called as ‘Defects / Bug Life Cycle’..

From the first time when the Issue is detected till the time when the Issue is closed of fix, it has been passes through the various stages which are Open, New, Open, Pending Retest, Postpone, Retest, Reject, Pending Reject, Deferred, and Closed.

Bug Life Cycle Steps:

1) A Test Engineer will test the project and find out all the possible bug of project.
2) Test Eng. Will submit the found bug to his/her manager/leader to verification.
3) Now Test leader have two options, either the bug will be valid or invalid. If the bug is valid then leader will report it to Developer and status will be assigned. And if the bug is invalid no another bug is there then work will be closed.
4) Now developer will work on that task and fix the bug, and again status will changed to Fixed and assigned to development leader.
6) The development leader will change the status of the bug to ‘Pending Retest’ and pass it to Test Eng. Team.
7) The test leader will change the status of the bug to ‘Retest’ and passes it to the same or any other available test engineer for retesting.
8) The tester retests the bug and if it is working fine and fixed, then tester will close the bug and if the bug is not fixed then again bug cycle will start and bug will be assigned to developer.
