This is the part of black box testing. It confirms the functionality of software or application. Main motive of functional testing is to ensure the each function required in application is working fine without any issue or side effect. Functional testing uncovers the bugs available in functionalities implemented in software application.

Functional testing involves the testing of APIs, Interface, security, Database, client/server application and the functionality of software application under testing. This testing can be done by automation or manually.
