What is Daughter Girl Child Saving Scheme and Why It is Launched 
According to 2001 Census in India, the sex ratio of Children under 0-6 aged was 927 girls for per 1000 boys, not just this in 2011 census, it reduced to just 918 girls for 1000 boys. That’s why UNICEF ranked India 41 among 195 countries in Child Sex ratio.

The Main Aims and Objectives of the BBBP Scheme :
The main aim for Girl Child Saving Scheme is to save, educate and to empower the girl child. The scheme targets to balance the ratio between both girls and boy child sex and it launched to celebrate the birth of every girl. The scheme prevents girls from outdated and conservative thoughts which violate girl’s interests. The other objectives of BBBP scheme are –

·         Stop Discrimination of Girl Child : In whole Asia, female sex ratio is decreasing so quickly and India is top in this ratio. That’s why the first objective of the scheme is to focus on the girl’s and boy’s ratio and to maintain a balance between them without any discrimination.

·         Ensures Protection and Survival of Girl Child : We all heard such news daily that an unborn baby girls found dead in dustbin, near station or wrapped in newspaper. All this shows the sickness of our mind and the thoughts of our society. But this scheme is a huge step to stop this mindset and to ensure protection and survival of every girls child.

·         Participation of Girls in Education and Other Field : BBBP scheme not just eyes on safety and discrimination of girl child but the scheme focus on the future of girls as well. It views of a new, strong and better India with the Participation of every Girl in Education, Learning and Other Fields too.

A Tri-Ministerial Effort :
BBBP scheme is actually a tri-ministerial effect to empower women and to improve women status in country and the tri-ministerial are –

-          Women and Child Development
-          Health and Family Welfare
-          Human Resource Development

Key Features of Daughter Girl Child Saving Scheme :
§  Mass Campaign : The campaign ensures the birth and the upbringing of every girl child to her empowerment without any discrimination, so she can become a proud citizen of our country. That’s why this campaign has been started with immediate effect in 100 districts along with district, state and national level.

§  United and Multi Sectorial Action : As we mentioned earlier that this scheme is a tri-ministerial effort, so it a united and multi sectorial action. The tri-ministry took many steps for girls like Training of New Women Entrepreneurs, Community Mobilization, Increasein Institutional deliveries, Friendly behaviour with girls in school and college, Universal Enrolment of girl, Enforce right to Education, Awards and recognition etc.
