| How and Why we should Block Website on Internet |
Windows :
DNS ( Domain Name System
) works as a back bone of any internet system because it can change address of
any sites means it DNS can change IP ( Internet Protocol ) address. When we
search in any browser, then we receive some DNS servers. The host file of our
system saves all these information to local system. These saved file can be
used to block the websites and for this you have to follow these steps –
· Step
1 : Make sure that you are working on administrator account of your
system, now sign in to your administrator account and go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\.
· Step
2 : Here you will see file named Hosts, click on it. A
notepad file will open, scroll down to last 2 lines, you will see
- (A)
“ # 127.0.0.1 localhost ”
- (B)
“ # :: 1 localhost ”

Step 2A : If your are facing problem in editing any file
then Right Click on Host file and select Properties. Now
choose Security Tab and select your administrator account and
click on Edit.
Step 2B : Choose your account in Pop – up and click on full
control. Then Apply and Yes.
· Step
3 : Not paste the url ( url of that site you want to block ) after the
line in notepad file, note – before the url you have to type 127.0.0.1 then
paste url. This saves the name of that site in your computer and blocks it.
Example : Suppose you want to block Google Website
then type 127.0.0.1 www.google.com
· Step
4 : Using this method you can block as many sites you want. In the end Save the
host file and close it. Now reboot your computer to save changes in your
computer. To check the changes you can try to open those websites as well.
