Fire needs oxygen to burn. Today we are going to make carbon dioxide gas from lemon and see how it gets extinguished when we blow out carbon dioxide.

How to Make Carbon Dioxide Gas

Material Required :

-    Lemon Juice

-    Sodium Bicarbonate

-     1 Bottle

-    Water

-    Matchbox

Process of Making CO2 Gas at Home

Experiment :

·         Step 1 : For this experiment we need an empty bottle or beaker or glass bottle first and then pour out the juice of 4-5 lemons in it.

·         Step 2 : Now add 2tsp of Sodium Bicarbonate and some water in it. Bubbles will starts forming in the bottle, these bubbles made due to carbon dioxide gas in the bottle.

Formula of Carbon Dioxide

·         Step 3 : After this you have to cover the bottle and leave it for 5 minutes.

·         Step 4 : After 5 minutes, remove the cover and lit a matchstick. It will burn till it is away from the bottle and as you take this matchstick to that bottle it will automatically blow out and the reason behind it is carbon dioxide gas in the bottle.
