We have read in Puranas and Scriptures that God also eats like humans, he drink, he sleep, wakes up, moves around and incarnate in the form of humans as well, with that he made us in the shape of his shadow. So that God may also fall ill like humans.

Actually the priest of Jagannath Dham Temple Shree Narmada Prasad Garg has told that God has high fever from the morning and he is sleeping in his bedroom. He has called the doctors and when doctor check god’s nerves then they actually found that god has fever. The Priest further said that God is being treated, he is taking medicines and he will rest for 15 days. With that he will be given light food for next 15 days like Mung Pulse, Porridge and Khichdi and he will take herbs and brew in his medicine as well. Even the doctors will come daily to check the health of God and God will be well soon.

Cause of Sickness – Aamras made him Sick :

According to a tradition, on the full moon day of Jyesth month, Lord Jagannath has to do Mahasnana in the water of 35 coasts. After the bath he consumes Aamras on the Golden Throne and this Aamras is the main cause of God’s illness. That’s why, he will be given only medicines until he get completely recovered.

The truth is that, it is a tradition which is celebrated every year. It was first celebrated in the Jagannath Temple of Puri, Orissa but this time it was celebrated in the Jagannath Temple of Udaipur and this time God got sick here as well.

After the rest and treatment of 15 days, temple gates open again on the first day of Aashadh Shukl and the devotee can see their Lord Jagannath again. As Lord Jagannath recovers, he travel throw whole city with his sister Subhadra and brother Baalbhadra as this journey is known as Jagannath Yatra. Actually the whole ritual is related to this Yatra and the ritual is called Ansara tradition.

Another interesting thing is that Lord Jagannath’s Brother Baalbhadra and his sister Subhadra also helps him to treat with Priest and Doctors.
