Explain Switched Mode Power Supply SMPS Benefits and Issues

SMPS
SMPS ( Switched Mode Power Supply ) is a device which gives electric power to other parts of computer. SMPS is different from other power supply because it gives power according to the need of computer. Like other power supply devices SMPS loads the electricity first and then changes into voltage and current. After this, current reaches to the main power supply. SMPS changes D.C power to D.C. and D.C. power to A.C. This has different types of regulators which are useful in LPS ( Linear Power Supply ) because it has ability to handle the Voltage. It gives power to every part of computer according to their need especially to transistor and diode. The regulator of SMPS works on different power supply. That’s why SMPS is most important part of computer. CLICK HERE TO KNOW What is Mother Board Explains its All Parts and Function ...

Type of SMPS :
1.       D.C to D.C Converter

2.       Forward Converter

3.       Flyback Converter

4.       Self – Oscillating Flyback Converter

D.C. Converter :
The first power comes to SMPS is in the form of AC, which filters to DC. Then it changes the power with the speed of 15 KHZ to 50 KHZ. With that it gives power to step down transform ( The size of step down transformer may be 50 Hz unit ), after this the power supply goes to the output and one sample of this output sends to switch to control the output voltage.

The power provides to D.C. that needs to break at the frequency of 15 to 50 KHz. To do this any active device like BJT, Power MOSFET, SCR and a transformer needs to use. The lowest limit of it is almost 5 KHz and the maximum is 50 KHz. After this it filters all the changed electric rays.

The control elements of SMPS are made of transistor, inductor or diode. As we switches on the electric power combines to inductor and changes into magnetic field. Then SMPS sends this power forward and according to the level of Voltage. CLICK HERE TO KNOW What is ROM Read Only Memory Its Type and Uses ...
Advantages Disadvantages of SMPS
Advantages Disadvantages of SMPS
Benefits of SMPS :
·         The biggest benefit of SMPS is that it can fulfill the requirement of power at low power as well.

·         With that it is small and light, while transformers are big and heavy.

·         It releases low heat and that depends on its ability.

Losses of SMPS :
·         This is hard to understand the working of SMPS.

·         Its high amplitude and high frequency is also a drawback because it decreases the level of filtration.

·         SMPS is a cause of harmonic distortion.

SMPS situates at the upper outside of CPU, it has sockets at its one side while it has a plug at the other side to connect with main power supply. All the wires of SMPS join the different parts of mother board and supply power to them.
