What is Computer:
- The computer is the Type of Machine, The machine which works on pre installed
program. When anybody sends any set of instructions to computer then it respond
in the well – defined manner after the execution of sent set of instruction.
Definition of modern computer:- Modern computer are digital
and electronic. The actual machinery of this is transistors, circuits and wires.
This configuration is called hardware. So such data and instruction is called software.
Normal Hardware
requirement for general purpose computer:-
1.
Memory – As it name suggest, memory is storage space
of computer where all type of data and program can store temporarily.
2.
Mass Storage Device:- This is also the huge
storage space where use can store lot of records. This can be external and
internal storage device.
3.
Input Device-: Input device as it name suggest the
device which is used to input the data or instruction into the computer program.
4.
Output Device – Such devices are used to publish
or to show the result of analysis input data and instruction.
5.
Central Processing Unit or CPU -: CPU is the
Heart and Brain of computer, all activities are processed from the CPU.
Classification of Computer:- Computer can be classified by the
power and size
1. PC
the Personal Computer: personal computer
is used for single user for his personal use only, so it is not much costly and
configuration of PC can be according to user requirement.
2. Workstation:
this is also the single user computer but it is more powerful and all its parts
are high quality than any PC because it used to do professional work.
3. Micro-computer
:- This is more powerful computer than
above 2 and 10 to hundreds of users can do the work on it together.
4. Mainframe
Computer :- This is more high power
multi – user computer and hundreds to thousands of users can do work together
here.
5. Super-computer
:- This is extremely powerful computer and it can perform hundreds to millions
of instructions in one second.
