Modem
Modem is also an
electronic device and its main work to convert the digital information of
computer to analogue signal and vice versa. To communicate with other network, computer also works on modem. The word modem is a combination of two other
words Modulator – Demodulator, these two words defines the functioning of modem
as well. CLICK HERE TO KNOW Working and Functioning of Modulator Demodulator Modem ...
What are the Types of Modem Modulator Demodulator |
Types of Modem :
There are many types of
modem, but everyone has its own way of working with different features. Due to
which you can divide them in three parts.
- Directional
Capacity : Half duplex modem and full duplex modem
- Connection
to Line : Wire modem and 4 – wire Modem
- Transmission
Mode : Asynchronous modem and Synchronous modem
Half Duplex Modem and
Full Duplex Modem :
· Half
Duplex :
1. It
can spread only from one side in one time.
2. If
modem catches any signal on line, then the information of that signal directly
goes to DTE.
3. Till
modem receives the data, it continues to send data to DTE
· Full
Duplex :
1. It
allows data to work and spread through both side.
2. This
is two driver lines, first that sends the data and other that receives the data
information.
3. Modem
uses 2 or 4 wires to manage data and communication.
4. In 4
wired modem connection 2 wire works to receive the signals while other works to
send the signals. CLICK HERE TO KNOW Use Smartphone as a Wireless Modem using Bluetooth ...
Half Duplex Full Duplex 2 – Wire Asynchronous Synchronous Modem |
2 – Wire Modem :
1. The
two wire modem uses only same pair of wires to send and receive the signals.
2. The
cost of these 2 pair of wire is less than the 4 pair of line.
3. Telephone
helps in communication of 2 wire connection.
4. Two
wire modem or connection can use half duplex mode or transmission for incoming
and outgoing easily. This is just a frequency.
1. This
modem handles the starts and stops of data bit.
2. There
is no timing between DTE and modem.
3. To
start the pulses in this modem, modem need to synchronize the internal pulses.
Synchronous Modem :
1. This
controls the flow of data but they need a clock signal.
2. Clock
signal can synchronize ever bit of data.
3. To
get the data bit and to spread data bit, modem uses the different clocks.
4. To
synchronous transmission of data, DTE uses its internal clock.
